The PEI Literacy Alliance invites all families to celebrate Family Literacy Day on Saturday, January 24 from 12 to 3 pm at the Confederation Centre Art Gallery. This year's theme is digital literacy. This is a free event.

This event will get families excited about developing their digital literacy skills and learn about age appropriate use of technology and how to protect children online. We live in a knowledge and innovation-based economy. Investing in literacy, including digital literacy, gives children and families an opportunity to learn and develop their literacy skills. Together we can create a culture of literacy and learning for our Island to prosper.

At Family Literacy Day families will enjoy a variety of activities and performances. Families will have a chance to create a stop motion animation film, experience a YouTube book and attend free digital literacy workshops. There will be two performances from The Music Man, celebrity readers and interactive booths. The Alliance will be giving away new children's books and families will have a chance to win an iPad and a Kobo ereader. Families are asked to bring a non-perishable food item for the Food Bank.

The Literacy Alliance will also be making an exciting and important announcement at this event.

This event is sponsored by Ocean 100 , City of Charlottetown, CUPE, Jack Frost Children's Winterfest, Owl's Hollow and the Confederation Centre of the Arts.
