Summer Tutoring Program for Kids

Our Summer Tutoring Program for Kids is in full swing. From East Point to North Cape our tutors will provide each student with an hour of private tutoring per week. This is a free program that we have provided each summer for 13 years to students from grades K-6. This summer we will tutor almost 800 Island children. We have tutors working in 21 libraries and 3 schools across the Island.

The goals of our program are to help children maintain and improve their skills over the summer months and to meet each child's individual needs in a positive atmosphere that promotes personal development and confidence. The summer tutoring program focuses on cultivating a love of learning in students. The learning activities are fun and designed to meet each child’s learning needs. We work on reading, writing and math skills all while having fun. It's sort of like hiding the spinach in the pasta sauce.

We work with elementary schools and Public Libraries across PEI to deliver the Summer Tutoring Program. Resource teachers refer students to the program and PEI Public Libraries offer resources and host tutoring sessions. Without partners and sponsors this program would not be possible. Thank you to everyone who has supported the Summer Tutoring Program for Kids!

If you would like more information on the Summer Tutoring Program please call 368-1810 or email to stpk@peiliteracy.ca
